For a Compassionate Woman

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28 KJV

Trials come and (hopefully) go in ways catching us by surprise rather than otherwise. We go through ordeals and learn lessons along the way. It’s comforting to be aware that we’re not alone on this. God is using compassionate people to extend their help, sustaining you in your travail. I dedicate this post to that woman (identity withheld for privacy).

I was a victim of online fraud last year – someone took away my remittance equivalent to my one-month salary. In the midst of anger and confusions, people around me tap me in the shoulder,  comforting me in ways they can. She’s one of those friends. She’s so generous that she lend me portion of her salary, enabling me to complete my remittance to my family in the Philippines.

She shared similar experience she’d been through. She once been swindled with crooked kabayan who ran away with their monies. She left with no choice but to move on.  Little did she knew the impact of what she shared for me to recover. I owe her one 🙂

Whenever you’re in rock bottom, faint not. God is convicting hearts of the people all around you to help you before you even open your mouth. Stay faithful with the Lord. No one approached the Throne and left empty-handed. God, in His lovingkindness, will use significant person to assure you that inspite of everything, He is in control.

Freebies, Anyone?

One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. – Proverbs 11:24

I recently joined a Facebook page promoting distribution of freebies among members. The idea is to give your old belongings cluttering up your closet/storage space to the needy/interested. I like the tagline: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” It thrills me knowing that our kabayans are actively supporting each other, we Filipinos refer to as balikatan.

A day after i joined, something caught my attention. A member (info withheld for confidentiality) posted  an invitation to collect two bags of toys and one smurf’s bag. I first thought of my son (as parents will), and my niece. These gifts must be a goldmine for me!

The Entry

Being fond of meeting people and participating with a community, we arranged to meet. It’s a short yet productive conversation.

Did you come across with an advice that goes like “do something new each day”? Well, this is one of those ‘new’! It’s an exciting experience. Like your first eyeball, or catching up with your long-lost friends.

Beneficiaries 🙂

I’m writing this post to express my appreciation for generous hearts sharing something they have for others to benefit with. For that member who gave me such gift, I pray that God will bless their home, prosper in every way (health, wealth, family ties, to name a few). Surely all favors will return to them a hundredfold.

Blessings work when it’s shared. As Darlene Zschech said in an interview during launching of Hillsong’s blessed album: “Be blessed, to be a blessing.” Let your blessings flow like a river from yours to others, so that it will be fresh everyday, new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). On the other hand, stagnant water is lifeless.

Encapsulating this message in one sentence: “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
